Rear UppercutFundamentals

A short rear-hand punch that rises through the center from the legs and hip, not from a dropped hand.

Build it clean.

  1. 01

    Setup

    Bend the knees slightly while keeping your torso stacked and the rear glove close to your face.

  2. 02

    Strike

    Drive from the rear foot and hip as the fist rises through the center with the elbow underneath it.

  3. 03

    Return

    Stop the punch compactly, draw the glove back to guard, and settle into your stance.

Drive up through the middle.

Common Mistake

Dropping the hand to load up or folding forward at the waist before the punch.

Safety First

Practice at close but comfortable range and never force the elbow beyond a controlled finishing position.
