Rear Body KickFundamentals

A rear round kick that turns the support foot and hip to bring the shin across a body-height target.

Build it clean.

  1. 01

    Setup

    Step the lead foot just outside the target line and stay tall with both hands ready to protect.

  2. 02

    Strike

    Pivot on the lead foot and turn the rear hip so the shin travels around at body height instead of lifting straight up.

  3. 03

    Return

    Re-bend the kicking leg, bring it home under control, and recover your stance and guard.

Common Mistake

Leaning far away from the kick and dropping both hands while the leg swings.

Use a kick shield or heavy bag for contact and keep the height and power within your controlled range.
